Programme

The provisional programme for the European Assembly for Climate Justice:

Friday 26th
Critical Mass bike ride, starts at 18:00 at Porte de Namur
Followed by: social event at “mundo-b”, Rue d’Edimbourg 26, 1050 Brussel (map)

Saturday 27th
at Erasmus Hogeschool, Rue des Six Jetons 70, 1000 Brussel (map)
(9:30 – 13:30): workshops on the following topics:

  • Forest, carbon trading and Redd
  • Nuclear power
  • Access to energy/access to water
  • Employment and the ecological crisis
  • Cochabamba Agreement, and the people’s protocol
  • Indigenous people in Bolivia and exploitation of lithium
  • Green Capitalism
  • Artivism
  • Food sovereignity
  • Extractive industry – indigenous people

(15:00 – 16:00): reports by the workshops in general assembly
(16:00-18:00): general assembly, focussing on the message for Cancun
(19:30 – 21:30): Conference. Climate catastrophe in Pakistan and Russia, an example, lessons to draw. More details on the conference…

Sunday 28th
at Erasmus Hogeschool, Rue des Six Jetons 70, 1000 Brussel (map)
(9:30 – 12:30): plenary and workshops on action coordination and planning in Europe
(14:00 – 18:00): Climate Justice demonstration as part of the “sing for the climate” event, starting at Brussels North train station

Monday 29th
at “mundo-b”, Rue d’Edimbourg 26, 1050 Brussel (map)
(9:30 – 12:30): evaluation and planning next steps with the organisers and the participating groups.

We hope to make rooms available for networks, groups and movements coming to the event to have their own network meetings at the assembly on Friday or Monday. Please contact info@climateassembly.org if you would like to take advantage of this.

Following the assembly, Young Friends of the earth Europe are hosting a 2-week “Cancun in Brussels” event, which will be a place for actions, skill sharing and networking.
